Lockheed Martin's CH-148 Cyclone helicopter and some of its features

Image
Lockheed Martin's CH-148 Cyclone helicopter and some of its features         Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company, and Canada’s Department of National Defence, lead a team that has designed, built and configured the CH-148 Cyclone for anti-submarine warfare (ASW), anti-surface warfare (ASuW), maritime search and rescue (SAR), overland operations and utility missions. It got entry into service, on this planet Earth, with the Royal Canadian Air Force occurred mid-2018 aboard one of the Royal Canadian Navy’s Halifax-class frigates. As Canada’s first true intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) helicopter, the fly-by-wire Cyclone is equipped with a fully integrated mission system, modern sensors and a multi-mission cabin, providing a quantum leap in maritime helicopter capability. The fully-integrated mission management system developed by General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada presents a tactical map of sea and subsurface domains to the crew...

The BLACK HAWK helicopter and some of its capabilities

Image
The BLACK HAWK helicopter and some of its capabilities         The BLACK HAWK multirole helicopter serves with the U.S. military and the armed forces of 34 other countries worldwide as a tough, reliable utility helicopter. More than 4,000 BLACK HAWK aircraft of all types are in service worldwide today. The U.S. Army is the largest operator with 2,135 H-60 designated aircraft. The same aircraft sold internationally direct from Sikorsky acquires the S-70 designation. During the last 40 years, this remarkable aircraft has fought its way in and out of countless combat zones to deliver and extract troops, save lives as a MEDEVAC or casualty evacuation platform, provide critical supplies to troops, deliver emergency supplies during natural disasters, and perform as an aerial firefighter and border patroller. Now the modern variant of this utility aircraft is taking on a new mission set as an Armed Helicopter to provide fire suppression when supporting ground troops,...

Armed Black Hawk helicopter and its capabilities

Image
Armed Black Hawk helicopter and its capabilities         The advanced weapon system for Black Hawk helicopters allows pilots to identify and engage static or moving targets with forward firing guns, rockets and laser-designated air-to-ground missiles. Sikorsky qualified the weapon system to U.S. military airworthiness standards in 2017 after extensive live fire flight testing. The system is now operational with the UAE. The weapon system brings a cost-effective attack capability to third generation Black Hawk aircraft while fully retaining the platform’s multi-role utility. Ground crews can add or remove external wings and weapons of choice in three hours. Fully integrated with the aircraft’s digital flight controls, the weapon system calculates the range and the complex ballistics required for pilot gunners to hit targets with high accuracy and reliability from stand-off distances during day and night operations. Militaries can acquire the weapon sy...

The C-130J Super Hercules and its capabilities

Image
The C-130J Super Hercules and its capabilities         From the highest landing strip in the world to austere, unprepared runways, the C-130J goes where other airlifters can’t, won’t or don’t go. It’s a proven workhorse that’s the airlifter of choice for 25 operators in 21 nations around the world, supporting any mission whenever and wherever it calls. One aircraft, many missions; no aircraft in history or operation today can match the C- 130J’s 18 certified, diverse, multi-mission capabilities. These capabilities are either built as a production variant or can be provided through a roll-on/roll-off configuration, providing additional resources with a short turn around installation time. The C-130J is faster, goes further and holds more compared to legacy platforms, translating to greater power and enhanced capabilities. The C-130J Super Hercules is the most advanced C-130 ever designed, built, flown and maintained, with a truly integrated ...

2024 Toyota C-HR SUV

2024 Toyota C-HR SUV         This all-new version of the Toyota C-HR family SUV aims to build on the efficiency and driving fun that the original offered, while also greatly improving practicality. The trouble with ‘one size fits all’ is that it rarely does, and the team behind the new, second-generation Toyota C-HR family SUV appear to have recognised that. You see, the outgoing model has long been available only as a conventional hybrid. But while that’s great if you want something efficient that you never have to plug in, it also means you’re very limited in how far you can go purely on electric power. For this new C-HR, though, there's also a plug-inhybrid (PHEV) variant with a much longer electric range, as well as a lower benefit-in-kind tax rating that makes it a more appealing company car choice. This new C-HR PHEV borrows the 147bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine and 158bhp electric motor from the latest Prius PHEV, along with that m...

SSDs and some of their uses

Image
SSDs and some of their uses         A solid-state drive (SSD) is a data storage device that uses solid-state memory to persist data in the same way as a hard disk drive—meaning the data is retained when power is removed. A solid-state drive, or SSD, is essentially memory that is being used to act as hard drive storage. From the application’s viewpoint, an SSD looks and acts just like a hard drive, albeit usually a relatively small one. Solid-state drives have definite advantages and disadvantages. Having no mechanical parts, they are significantly faster than hard drives. The negatives are that they are much more expensive per GB and don’t have the same capacity as a typical hard drive. SSD stands for solid state drive. The solid state contrasts with a hard disk drive (HDD), which consists of components with hollow and moving states. It also means that when an SSD reads or writes information or data, it does not require moving parts. SSD is flash technology-ba...

NVDIA releases NVIDIA RTX 6000 series graphics card built with Ada Lovelace architecture

NVDIA releases NVIDIA RTX 6000 series graphics card built with Ada Lovelace architecture   What RTX is       RTX is a software system which can be used for video creating, video game creating, and 3D image and simulation creating or to run them. It is integrated and embedded in the GPUs which use it to run certain files, images, videos and simulations, as well as games; or to create those. The software system is not only used by NVIDIA for their GPUs to render the applications mentioned before in this article, but there other systems which specifically and intentionally use, because of the partnership between the companies which created or helped create these other systems, the RTX system for their apps and related software. Some of the partner apps and software that are accelerated by the RTX software system are: Unity, the software from Dassault Systems, the software from Adobe, the software from Autodesk, and the software from Epic Games, the XDR extension ...
